How we make money

The short version is the disclosure you'll see next to every quote button on this site:

Searching this site's license lookup or reading a state's rules costs a homeowner nothing. The quote button is the only feature tied to money: it passes your request to a matching partner, and that partner may pay us once your request reaches them. No bathroom contractor pays to be searchable or listed here, and none pays us for it. A result traces to a public license record in any city this site's file covers; everywhere else, the page instead ranks businesses by their own Google rating, and a partner's eventual match may not be the business you searched for or saw ranked.

The license search, the state rule pages and the guides cost nothing to use.

Only the quote button connects to money: a matching partner receives your request and may pay us for it, never a business you looked up or saw ranked here.

The quote button

Pages with listings also carry a quote button. It opens a quote request run by our matching partners, not by the businesses listed on the page. When you ask for quotes through it, a partner may pay us. That is how we pay for running this site.

The partner decides which companies to match you with, so the companies that contact you may not be the ones listed on the page you came from. Before you hire anyone, check their license the same way you would check a listed business.

What it costs you

Using Bath Contractor Check costs homeowners nothing. You don't pay us for listings, lookups or quote requests.

What money doesn't change

How to tell the links apart

Quote buttons always sit in a box with the disclosure above, and they are marked as sponsored links in the page code (rel="sponsored"). Every other outbound link on the site goes to an official license record, a business's Google Maps listing, or a source we cite.
